MEET THE HERD

Finean Trot SS

DP Finean

Finean is a Cleveland Bay Sporthorse, bred by Debbie Bell in Mount Barker. Finean was purchased as a green broken 4 year old in December 2000. He and Louise formed a very obvious strong bond and competed extremely successfully in state competition up until the end of 2012. For several years they were members of the Western Australian Senior Dressage Squad. He won many championships from Young horse, Novice up to FEI dressage awards, including three back to back FEI Small Tour State Championships. He was often selected as a demo horse and was used to demonstrate the FEI definition of "The Happy Athlete". He also turned his hoof to showing where he placed in numerous Hunter classes (taking many championships and supreme) and won the Cleveland Bay Sporthorse Championship at the Perth Royal. Wherever Finean competed there were always people who adored him for his generous spirit and correct training. Finean is enjoying his semi-retirement with rides out in the bush and teaching riders in the occasional dressage lesson.

Bib

Bridlewood Dulcima (Lucy)

Lucy is owned and bred by Viginia Longley of Denmark, Lucy is a 6 year old mare by Danzante (De Niro/Donnerhall x Wickie/Weltmeyer) out of Sabra (Sam/Salute x Sagesse/Mr Dom Perignon). She is a good example of the modern warmblood being athletic, trainable and showing three good paces.

Lucy had a fabulous 2015, starting with the AWHA national assessment tour where she placed 1st in the 32-WPRB/WID led mare 4 and 5 years class, 81.61% and 2nd in class 55-Open led mare 4 and 5 years with 82.68%. Later In the year, Lucy completed in three unofficial competitions with 4 wins in her first outing at Katanning, a 2nd place in the Horseland 4 year old class at the Master's Dressage final and two wins, a 2nd and 3rd at Margaret River Dressage Spectacular.

In 2016 she made the move to official classes winning Preliminary Champion at the Southern Districts Dressage Club (SDDC) Southern Solstice Championships in March before placing 2nd in the Preliminary 1.3 at the WA State Championships and winning Novice Champion at the SDDC Celebrations in late May. She finished the year placing runner up in the prestigious state Penny Hill Park Rising Star Award and then convincingly winning all tests at the Albany Agricultural Show.

In 2017 Lucy started the year winning the Novice Championship at the SDDC Sothern Solstice and moved up to elementary at the State Championships posting 2 x 66% scores. She then turned her hoof to jumping and completed at one state level event where she led from start to finish. She is a very versitile mare indeed.

Brisket

Wychwood Duval

Wychwood Duval (Brisket) has lived with Louise for 21 years since he was aged two and enjoyed a brief ridden career (starting when he was 4.5years) prior to being retired at six. Since then Brisket has played a vital part in the herd looking after and nurturing all horses at some point. He oozes personality and remains a very loyal and diligent family member. He has really shown that horses do not have to be ridden to make a positive contribution to the herd and family at large.  He rather enjoys being the paddock ornament!

Duilio

Primrose Court Duilio

Duilio was purchased as a foal in June 2012. He spent some time living in a large herd on a farm prior to joining Louise in November 2012. Duilio was bred by Anna Thompson at Primrose Court Stud in Perth. He is by Duino (Donnerschwee, Sion, Figaro) a former Bundeschampion of the three year old stallions in Warendorf. Duilio is out of Lianda Park Raissa (Rotspon/Rubinstein/Absatz).

Duilio is a really wonderful young horse with character oozing out of every pore! He is smart, unflappable and rather cute. He started work under saddle in 2015, then went out for a spell until the end of the year. He has since had some light work (when time permits) and is proving to be very trainable. Louise hopes to spend time with him in 2018 and develop his education further.
